Bankruptcy Lawyers

The new bankruptcy law contains some very inventive new paperwork requirements that will make it much more difficult for you to find a bankruptcy lawyer and also at the same time make sure they increase the fees they charge.

Some people believe that the overall cost could double or even triple. (One estimate predicts that it will cost from $2,000 to $3,800 or even more to file for bankruptcy relief under the new law!)

Under the old bankruptcy law you alone would certify the accuracy of the financial information you provided to the bankruptcy court. Now under the new bankruptcy law your lawyer will have to expose himself to legal penalties if the information you provide is not entirely accurate.

If your lawyer decides to help you by providing inside information on how you can take advantage of some of the loopholes the new law allows, he could be prosecuted for being involved in a conspiracy to defraud the federal government! Talk about police state tactics!

This will no doubt cause many bankruptcy lawyers to consider changing fields to other less risky legal fields.
